Choosing Gratitude

One of the most potent means of creating connection in a relationship is expressing our gratitude to our loved ones. Small and simple gestures of appreciation matter. Letting our loved ones know that we are grateful for their presence in our lives and for the various ways they add to our lives creates intimacy and closeness. I say even a little bit of gratitude goes a long way.

Here are a few tips to support you and infusing gratitude in all of your intimate relationships.

1. Don’t assume that your loved ones know that you’re grateful for them.

It is so easy to take our loved ones for granted. We may see, connect and interact with our loved ones every day and show them through our actions that we care, but if we do not express our gratitude in words, our efforts may become lost in translation.

We assume that our partners know that we love and appreciate them, but sometimes they don’t. Life gets busy, and we forget to express our gratitude and appreciation for those closest to us and who mean the most to us.

2. Expressing gratitude in relationships creates fulfillment.

When we take the time out to express our appreciation and admiration to our partners, they feel accepted, and they know that their presence in our lives matters. Think of gratitude as a superfood or a powerful nutrient that can grow and fortify your relationships. When we speak words of appreciation and gratitude, we create a deeper connection and a sense of fulfillment in our relationships.

3. Make it a regular and consistent practice.

We don’t have to make grand gestures to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to those closest to us. Regularly expressing our thoughts and feelings of gratitude to our loved ones can be simple and easy. It is as simple as saying thank you, and I appreciate you.

So, here’s my challenge to you. I encourage you to start expressing gratitude today. Choose three people in your life who matter and take the time to convey to them that you’re grateful for them. Also tell them why you’re thankful for their presence in your life. Notice how they take in your words of gratitude and pay attention to how you feel in this encounter.

For extra credit points (in our virtual school of life), let me know how it goes and what you learned about yourself in the process.

I’d love to hear from you!

Sending you love and thoughts of gratitude! I’m grateful for you, yes, You!

Love,

Danielle ❤️
